Social Media Assistant – Charis Hodges
June 5, 2024
We have had a few months since we have had the honor of introducing a new Verity’s Village team member. In the past two months, we have been able to bring in a Social Media Assistant, Charis Hodges, to aid Verity’s Village in creating graphics and posts that are relevant to our community.
If you feel like you have heard the name Charis before, you would be completely on track. Charis is not only our new Social Media Assistant, but she is also Beverly Jacobson’s oldest daughter! Charis has been on board with the mission of Verity’s Village supporting her mother since its inception. We are excited to have Charis’s skills and support on our team as we move forward! Charis, we are so glad to have you as a part of Verity’s Village!
Our interview included below focuses on each leader’s life, family, and motivation for being a part of Verity’s Village, as well as a few fun facts about their lives.
Charis, will you tell us a bit about yourself?
It’s a little hard to separate me from my family at the moment as I’m a wife and homemaker. I’m blessed to stay home with my two girls. I love what I do, being able to cook meals and keep the house clean and welcoming. I enjoy hospitality and hosting people in our home. I’ve been knitting and crocheting for over a decade now, and I often have three or four different projects. I enjoy being able to pull out a creative project while my girls are napping or playing.
.
Will you tell us about your family?
I’m Beverly Jacobson’s daughter, so I’m Verity’s older sister by 16 years. I’ve been married to my husband, Isaac, for four years. He recently started his own construction and handyman company, so we are currently navigating the joys and challenges of entrepreneurship. We have two daughters: Hollianne is 2 years old and Felicity is 8 months. My husband and I both come from large families and have talked about having a larger family of our own. Our dream is to own our own property where we can homeschool and homestead. For now, we are loving our life with two little ones.
.
What is something funny that no one would guess about you?
I love metal music, specifically Christian metal music, such as Flyleaf and Fit for a King.
.
What is your favorite drink?
I have a cup of chai tea every morning with milk and honey while I do my Bible reading.
.
What is your favorite board game?
I’m more of a card game person. I enjoy “The Game” and “Phase 10.”
What are your top 3 favorite podcasts?
The World and Everything in It
The Christian Business Breakdown
The Working Genius
.
How long have you served Verity’s Village?
I’ve officially been working in social media for 6 weeks. Unofficially, I’ve been involved through speaking with my mother for years about the vision and startup of Verity’s Village.
.
Why did you join with Verity’s Village mission?
Mostly because there was a need. I wasn’t looking for a job, though I appreciate the opportunity for it. My mom spoke with me about the need for additional help in the social media and administration areas, and I love stepping in to fill a gap. It’s very personal for me, because Verity is my sister. As a mom, my heart goes out to the moms and dads who receive a life-limiting prenatal diagnosis. I haven’t gone through that experience myself, so I can’t imagine how difficult that would be. I am grateful for the privilege to help parents though that journey.
.
What is the most important thing you have done with Verity’s Village?
I think it is so important to reach out to parents and share that there is hope, no matter where they are in their journey. I am grateful to be part of the team that is reaching parents and sharing resources and encouragement.
Thank you, Charis, for sharing about your life, your family, and your passion for Verity’s Village! Also, thank you for joining for being such an essential part of Verity’s Village!
