Group Admin and Future Parent Care Coordinator
June 7, 2023
Last month, we finished sharing about our board of directors with our Verity’s Village community, but wait, we have more! In addition to our introducing our Founder, Social Media Manager, and Board of Directors, we would also like to introduce you to one of our Group Admins, Kathryn Kerr, who completed training to become our first Parent Care Coordinator.
As a “veteran” of Verity’s Village, Kathryn has served as a volunteer moderator in our online support groups. She knows very well what this journey entails, having gone through it herself. She just became our first Parent Care Coordinator and we are excited to extend our support to more families affected by a life-limiting diagnosis. Kathryn, we are so glad to have you as a part of Verity’s Village!
Our written interview included below focuses on each leader’s life, family, and motivation for being a part of Verity’s Village, as well as a few fun facts about their lives.
Kathryn, will you tell us a bit about yourself?
I am the Mom to three living children. I also have one little girl, Indiana, who lives with Jesus. I am a registered nurse. I have spent most of my nursing career in the NICU and Labor and Delivery. I am currently the director of nursing of a medium sized facility.
.
Will you tell us about your family?
I’m married to my best friend Jason. I have three living children who are 15, 16, and 18. I am also the Mom to an angel. Indiana is my angel with Trisomy 18. She was born on March 4, 2021. She lived for 6 weeks and 1 day. We fought so hard for her. She passed away suddenly on April 16, 2021. My parents live in Florida. I also have an identical twin sister, Elizabeth, who lives close to me and a younger sister, Andrea. She lives in Colorado. Last but not least we have a black cat named Poppy.
.
What is something funny that no one would guess about you?
I am ridiculously scared of snakes.

Coke Zero
.

.
How long have you served Verity’s Village?
I’ve served Verity’s Village officially for about a year.
.
Why did you join with Verity’s Village mission?
I joined Verity’s Village in November 2020 when I received my daughter Indiana’s diagnosis of Trisomy 18. I was 18 weeks pregnant when we got the official diagnosis.
.
What is the most important thing you have done with Verity’s Village?
The most important things I have done are: 1) Had a baby with a life limiting diagnosis. 2) Formed connections and walked with other moms on this rough but beautiful road.
Thank you, Kathryn, for sharing about your life, your family, and your passion for Verity’s Village! Also, thank you for joining for being such an essential part of Verity’s Village!
